“My heart is warm with the friends I make,
And better friends I’ll not be knowing,
Yet there isn’t a train I wouldn’t take,
No matter where it’s going.”
(Edna St. Vincent Millay)
Welcome to Fall! A time to get busy - hopefully after some relaxation and holidaying in the summer - and by “getting busy” I simply mean a time to reorganize, settle into a different routine and, in southwestern Ontario, a time to get cozy because winter is around the corner. I personally love the fall; as a child, fall meant going back to school and I LOVED school. My curious mind would never stop and I would quite frankly be bored by summer’s end. Shopping for new school supplies, preparing for the new school year - all very exciting for me. My father was a school teacher so there was added excitement as he enjoyed teaching, and I could sense his desire to get back into the classroom and invoke some wisdom into young minds.
This fall was meant to be the first fall in over 22 years when I didn’t have a child going off to school. Both of my children are finished with their post-secondary education for the time being so this fall was going to feel very different. Notice how I said “was going to feel different”? Well, its different alright because I have decided to go back to school myself! All registered and already had my first class! I am proud of myself and also fairly nervous - university life has changed dramatically since I last attended some 40-years ago!
I realize that this special buzz around fall has an added spark for me - just for me. My decision to return to school was quick and intuitively guided (as if I can make any decisions without engaging my intuition - it is ALWAYS on) which means for me that the Universe supports it and therefore it will feel rewarding to me (albeit after I got lost twice on campus and couldn’t access the wi-fi at first).
Do you sense change during this particular season? Do you focus on how your personal energy might shift when a season shifts? It is important to touch base with your internal energy daily, of course, but also important to check in from a higher perspective, and a change of seasons can certainly facilitate that
With immense love and joy!
